In short.....Yes

At idle and low speed you wont notice it as much but when you are demanding full throttle the clogged filter restricts the full flow dropping the pressure and making the engine run lean, this causes you to drive for longer periods under full throttle and using more fuel as the engine does not deliver. Besides the extra consumption you can burn the valves as well due to a lean mixture.

Once you have found the offending part it is a relatively simple job to change just make sure that you tighten the fuel pipes properly and that there are no leaks afterwards. The new filter usually comes with new copper washers that go above and below the banjo bolts, that is about the only complication

Hi Gerrit, Thanks again! Sorry since your last post I had to dash off. I am going to bother you one more time. So is it part number 11 that I would have to replace. I was expecting an inline fuel injection fuel filter?? Is this the only fuel filter on this vehicle and as I say should I purchase part number 11 as a replacement? Is there anything else I should replace? Do Gud filters manufacture an equivalent? If so do you know the part number I should order? Thanks a lot for all this info.

How did you ever get on with this task? Did all this trouble you went through help the problem you had?

I would also like to know if you had any success with changing this and where did you get the filter from?
