Everybody has his favourite tyre and it is probably true that none of the big name brands make total rubbish.

I happen to have had great service from Yokohama Geolandar AT/S tyres on our Gen 3 DiD. The tyres were quiet, easy to balance, did not run out of balance with wear, had good grip on dry or wet tar and did not stand back for other all terrain tyres in the rough.

To top it all, the tyres lasted for just more than 105000 km and were quite cost effective compared to the alternatives. It would come as no surprise that our Paj is now sporting another set of the same tyres, ready for the next 100000+ km .

It seems that tyres are always an issue partly due to the escalated prices and different wear patterns , road holding , longivety and of course off road capabilities.
Just my viewpoint :
I have driven through the years different vehicles from Mazda Drifter ,Isuzu and now Toyota.
Do not excempt my OU WA here 99 Blister.
It is true that every vehicle /bakkie or 4x4 has different charateristics to different tyres.
I am a big Pirreli fan as they did excellent on all the bakkies except on my Toyota for some reason flat spots within the first 5000 km. I had the rep from Pirreli out and his comments were- a common Toyota problem.
Now I have Hankooks on - a bit noisy but so far done 64000 km and still going strong. No imbalances , flat spots etc.
My colleagues all have BF Goodrich on and the same issue - flat spots, heal and toe wear, and not the kilos they were expecting from their Toyota's as well
My problem with Bridgestone mud terrain is loud noise, wet grip very bad and after 80000 km cracks developed longitudinal in the tyre. Now I have to replace all 4 RRRRRRRR
Just to add more confusion what about Silverstone Mud Terrains Anyone heard or experienced them.
Must add I have seen almost all bakkies in Zimbabwe uses Goodyear as my customer says thet handle bad roads well - offers great wet grip and last up to 90000 km .

They do not mention the type AT's ot MT's but I am surely going to contact them and get more info.

Which TWT did you talk to? I bought 5 Hankooks last week at R1400 each (VAT Excl). Total cost, with tyre insurance, fitment, balancing, nitrogen etc was R9600. I did it at TWT in Hatfield Pta. I suggest you go into the branch and talk to them. They gave me 53% discount, but on the phone the price was a lot higher.

Are your tyres the same size? 15" were about R1400 last I looked, not 16"

Yes, I've got 265/70/R16
The muds were 2200 (ex VAT) and BFG were 2800 (ex vat).
