Hi Roelf,
I was thinking the same thing here. Maybe an aftermarket immobiliser with anti hijack .
The system would normally start alarming before going into full cut out mode but maybe just maybe the alarm hooter is not working and therfore it will just cut out .
Might still be an alarm problem I think.

Hi,
Some time ago my 1995 3L started doing the same thing. She would start without any problems - but as soon as I stopped and switched her off I would struggle to get her going for hours. Eventually took her to my mechanic and he removed a whole bunch of wires fromt he initian. From there on no problems. One thing he did however show me was the bad wiring and connections they used. He said he was surprised that it did not catch fire before ...
Regards,
Riaan

Hi guys,
Thans again for all your ideas and thoughts and have passed them all on. As I meantioned previously I am not a mechanic by any stretch. The one thing Freek as told me is that when you turn the key it does take i.e. hearing the gggrrrrr sound but just does not start so would this be an immobilizer given the fact it is making a noise when trying to start it?

Sainoz,
GRRRRR sound can mean many things but one or two issues here,
Battery too flat to pull in solenoid on starter, the battery might seem okay but rather have the battery charged fully and then do a load test on it at your local battery center.
My dauhters Golf is ver finicky when the battery is low and then the immobiliser refuses to deactivivate-after market immobiliser.
Secondly the starter might be fualty itself.
I suggest check the wiring to the starter, especially the last bit where it connects to the starter.
I had a similar problem and was told by a local auto electr that the wire is cooroded and therefore they installed a extra relay. One day when working under the vehicle I thought to open the wire and check it out- I found the last bit before the connecter badly corroded . I bought a new piece and borrowed a crimping tool -industrial one and made up a new piece and wholla problem solved.
Maybe just maybe- one never knows.
Good Luck

Hi all,
I just wanted to first thank all of you for your assistance in trying to resolve the issue with my Pajero.
Freek has resolved the issue and it was due to some less than professional work done by the previous owner on a fuel regulator. The wiring was very poor and causing the problem.
I HUGE thank you to FREEK and son at MITSPRO for all their hard work, they were nothing but a joy to deal with. True pros with a passion for Mitsubishi's. I am not sure how long they spent on the vehicle but it was many hours and you could see they wanted to resolve the issue as much as I did and the pricing was excellent!
Thanks again to all and Freek see you for thew next service
I am looking forward to getting stuck into some 4x4 trips now.
Till next time cheers.
Greg

Great!
I was sure it was a simple problem:

These engines are bullet-proof, ans does not give niggling problems. The guy that owned it before must have thought he managed to sell a lemon!
Congrats to MITSPRO for keeping their name up where most on this forum perceives it to be!

Hi Greg,
I'm new to the forum and I'm close to purchasing a Pajero GLS (supposedly 1999) that is a spitting image of the vehicle you posted in the thread. I'm not allowed to send messages here yet as I'm so new. The vehicle I'm looking at has a registration number of YZS153GP and supposedly has 143 km on the clock? I'd appreciate any information you could share with me if this might be the same vehicle?
It was serviced by Mitspro at 120 km and I will take it to Freek to look at before I buy, but any information you might (and I realize this might not be the same vehicle) have would be appreciated. Trying to cover all bases on this possible purchase!
regards,
John
