No money will buy my safety. Why spend the money on vehicles with safety bags left, right and centre and worry about fuel consumption if you want to save money on a safety-critical item and the saving is short term only?
Go for less expensive tyres like General Grabbers if you are not doing serious 4X4 driving but stick to the correct size tyres (for reasons mentioned earlier).
To me it is not worth it!!!!!!

As I mention previously, you can keep the diameter of the tire almost exactly the same, if you choose a higher sidewall - 245/75 (not 70). But as far as I recall, some Pajeros came with 245/75R16 (the Gen3 GLX ?).

Either stick with manufacturer recommendation or change to your own preferences (but realize the repercussions)
NOTE that some insurance companies may null and void your claim if the tyres are not the OEM spec - not to mention a law maniac that may sue you in case of an accident.

I'll scrap the idea of mixing different sizes on the car, rather keep looking for a more reasonable price on the 265s.
It seems the reason these tyres are so much more expensive is that they are not all that widely used, at least that's what the dealers tell me. Most that I spoke to did not have them in stock but would need to order, while they all had stock of the 245s.
Is that the general experience of the other members on the forum?

My neighbour needed new tyres last week and he phoned one dealer who helped him straight away. He was in a hurry and they fitted all four 265's in 30 minutes flat. Granted, it was Grabbers, but there was no hassle...
