Did you remove the clear front plastic cover and maybe bumped the needle?

yes. Had to take it off to do the one light.

did all the background ones. I removed the white box to get the bulb out on the bottom right.

Going to take it out and see if that helps.

But why the clear plastic front cover? As far as i can see removing the front clear plastic cover gives no access to any of the bulbs.

if you look at your photo, there is a little white box on top of the blue. I removed that. I think that's were the trip computer sits.
I removed that to get to the last bulb. Anyway, I must have missed a pin or something, cause after re-doing that piece its all working.

Very happy with the overall look. Best R40 ever.

Jip. Strange to think that all those led bulbs cost less than 2 from the dealer.

Glad you got it sorted. I think you are right in that piece being the trip computer and needle controller. It has 38 connections to the blue board so it does a lot of stuff.

Where can I buy the LEDs in South Africa?

You can try 4x4Direct. I got mine on eBay. Took just over a week to get to me and was much cheaper.

I ordered mine on 22 May 2012 and it arrived yesterday.
