Hey all

I'm busy with my DIY packing system. Frame is complete, ammo crate drawers complete, fridge drawer...almost complete.

I use connect-it and alu square tubing all bought from Maizy's (don't buy from builders, you are going to pay 3 times as much). The slides I've ordered from furnlock. 1 x Heavyduty for fridge, 2 x medium duty for ammos.

On the Left I have two drawers taking 4 ammo crates in total, on the right, drawer for Waeco 50CF. Cover for the 3rd row seats is being copied and a hole cut underneath the ammo drawer side. Remove bottom front ammo crate and hole is accessible. Top still needs a cover (thinking ply) and will get cargo strips to tie down things...don't want those going forward with sudden hard braking.

For some reason..I can't upload pics from my PC (+ the ones I have is crappy samsung pocket rubbish quality), I will post a few from the tablet over the weekend.

Sorry...busy weekend, so didn't got around to place drawes syatem in the pajero again. I did take a few pics where it is standing now. Hope this helps. Will also attach the crappy quality ones.

Still needed to complete drawers;
*Get decent wood for top (the chipboard is only so we can pack the dive gear crates on it for now)
*Get alu sheet for fridge drawer
*More bolts and nuts on fridge slide
*Get 9mm thick wood to replace the 3rd row seats cover
*Wood for 3rd row seats cover will be carpetted and a square hole off approx 300x300mm wil be cut in the cover below the ammo side of the drawer. Remove bottom front ammo crate and access the 3rd row seats cavity via this hole.....perfect for 12x 6packs beer.
*Cover the top wood with something...still undecided....propably vehicle carpet.
*buy and install latches to prevent drawers from sliding around while driving.
*Cut slots in fridge slide to tie fridge down when neccesary with starps.
*Figure something out to strap drawers to cargo tie points in boot.
*Install cargo strips on top of the drawer to strap things ontop...like dive gear crates, suitcases or whatever else will go on top.


Making this list makes me wonder if I'll be done end Sept for the Barberton trip...

It was only possible due to all the ideas I got from this forum and 4x4community forum.

Connect-its is very forgiving for not very straight cuts...although on drawer system 2.0 I did manage to make better, cleaner cuts. On the first attempt the cuts was bad...really bad but it still turned out ok.

Will start a thread for the system when everything is complete.

I bought a used African Outback purpose made system for my 2011 SWB 3.2DiD for R4500 a year ago, with aluminium water tank included. Works very well- only criticism is the Fridge position is too high, but there is no alternative unless one sacrifices one of the drawers, which is not an option.

What did you use to make your cuts?

Hack saw, mitre box and g-clamps.

It worked out ok.

You can source the Connect-It corners and aluminium tubing from Mayzey at 320 Mitchell St, PRETORIA WEST 012 327 2000 and the slides from Furnlock . Works a charm.
