My only drawback on the Rockford system is the crap tuner. Being messing with sound systems as a hobby since 1989, Rockford were known for not having very good tuners in their headunits.

Maybe the bad tuning has to do with the Integrated antenna into the rear side window.Possible a reason for it as your antenna is not protruding from the top or side of the car giving a beter range of pickup.Whereas it being on the side window it "hides" the antenna to good signal quality.Just my thoughts

Have a 2013 SWB with the CASKA system in. No problems with the Bluetooth and the sound is great. The interface takes a bit of getting used to in the beginning but once you've got that sorted, it's a nice system. Ipod, usb and bluetooth integration with navigation is good...but then again, this is the first system with such comprehensive capabilities I've experienced so I might be biased.

Phones costing R10k cannot be compared to entertainment units.
My 2012 Pajero with the Caska performs well.
However, I am not in favour of touch screens on car radios.
My Caska is in for repair (faulty cd) and I have a Rockford system now temporarily.
It is not as good as the CASKA.
The bluetooth problems mentioned elsewhere might be related to the Ipod etc. We use the Ipod all the time.
Had to reformat mine on a windows pc as the directory was faulty.
My Pajero had the 3 struts installed in the dashboard recently to prevent the rattling on some roads. This killed some Caskas probably. Mine was repaired for free now, outside the warranty period, as I maintained it was a oem fault.
Will see how it works on the next knp trippie.

Hi REAList
Would love to know at which dealer you had the struts installed. I also have the CASKA unit on my 2010 Pajero. The shudder really shakes the unit, and may explain why I've had to repair my unit a year ago....

At the McCarthy Branch in Witbank.
My shorty was still under warranty though.
Apparently Mitsibushi only allows about R600 for the claim.
Caska came back with the radio faulty.
Apparently the weight of the Caska is more than the Rockford and this contributes to the shudder.
Waiting again -hardly using the Rockford though.

Why not? Here's my thinking which underlies my belief that there is no excuse for manufactures of entertainment systems not to deliver a good user experience:
Smart phones and caska entertainment units are a similar price.
They both have an operating system, and software running on top of that supported by hardware that in both cases has a processor, ram and storage (some entertainment systems even run the same operating systems that phones run, Android for example)
Both have touch screens
Both have similar means of interfacing (USB and Bluetooth)
Opera browser runs on both, and you can browse the Web on both (if you connect the caska to a dongle)
Both play music and video
Both read from SD cards
Both have radio receivers
Both have GPS receivers
But one has an audio amplifier, one does not.
So I think it's reasonable to expect my entertainment system to behave like my phone in terms of responsiveness and intuitive user experience.
