Morning Kai ("Hi Kai" sounds a bit corny )

Yip, I agree with all your points.

I have had the honour (just once though) to join the tyre repair brigade in Solitair, so am super aware of the tyre monster on those roads, but on two occasions found their fuel tanks dry.

The corrugations were bad last time through there, but over a cold beer at Rostock, Walter showed us a different route which was 100%.

My caravan carries 70L water and we always stock up with bottled water for the girls. The manne must cope with canned fluid.

The first aid box is always in the car and my wife (after being a CANSA volunteer for more than a decade) is hectic about the sun and protection.

No kids in our group.

Thanks for the reminders.
Roelf

Hi Roelf

If you guys need/want an extra V6 shorty to join the convoy around the Huab/Ugab/Twyfelfontein area I would be happy to oblige.
safe travels.

Hey Delta, just look for the area in Nam that ran out of petrol, then you'll know where we are.

Re: Namibia 2015
Thanks for the post Roelf, lots of inspiration in there for the rest of us. I'm also interested to see all the V6s involved as most of the cars I see on the roads around Joburg are the DiD.

Looking forward to the trip report and pictures eventually!

You have the 3.8 V6 right? I'll volunteer to bring the other can of petrol! :)

Lost two tyres on a 10 day trip, so a second spare on the rim would not be untoward.

Re: Namibia 2015
Yeah...
I'm also panicky about tyres. Mostly due to the heavy load.

On the dirt roads I'll go 4H to spread the work a bit between the tyres.

Re: Namibia 2015
Quick update.

All accom has been booked. I'm still pondering which route to take between Windhoek and Rostock. I'm starting to fancy the one via Rehoboth. I like the fuel fill-up there and the route from there looks to be the less travelled one. Also that way we approach Rostock from the south and can even pop down to Solitaire for some apple tart (and petrol - if they have).

Looks like Allan will be going in a 3.8V6. He says all the paperwork is done on the deal - a 2012 GLS LWB with 40k on the clock.
