I am glad you found the problem to your overheating issues!

I really would not recommend to permanently lock-up the viscous fan on a V6 Pajero. The engine revs easily to 6000 RPM (especially in the dunes) which the plastic fan blades were never designed for as the viscous coupling has a degree of slip in it. The blades could be pulled into the radiator or just snap off due to excessive fatigue from continued high RPM.

First prize - New viscous coupling - there are also aftermarket versions available from master-parts, alert engine parts, and possibly sivertons, etc.
Second prize - refill the viscous unit with silicone oil available from toyota spares - see my post here:

You can also extend the life of your fan's viscous clutch by refilling it with suitable silicone oil - available from Toyota. The only problem is that you will probably find that over time (maybe a year or so) that will also disappear through one of the seals. NB when I say refill - I do not mean full up. Its a bit of a guesstimate how much silicone oil to put in - around 50ml.

Leaving your fan hardwired! will be detrimental to fuel consumption and also can be harsh on the fan blades themselves - as it is you will see they gradually develop stress cracks along the base of the fan blades and you don't really want a fan blade through the radiator.
