I think that would be the wrong approach. The right approach would be to adjust your speed in accordance with road conditions.
To drive on tar in 4WD H is to me the same as driving a bit more reckless because you have Antiskid and / or ABS .
The Pajero is configured as a SELECTIVE 4 WHEEL DRIVE and not a ALL WHEEL DRIVE.
I see different design parameters in these two systems with regard to wear and tear / cooling and dimensioneering of the various drive elements .
I cant see any reason why 2H is still available

4H is a true awd as per many other systems. It offers safety, reduced wear and negligable increase in fuel. If awd wasnt needed, why do so many manufacturers offer it?

I think you have all misunderstood my question. However I have managed to answer it myself. The 2015 Pajero Sport does not have the Super Select gearbox II like the Pajero LWB 3.2DiD. It has what they call an easy select gearbox. The manual says do not drive it on a tar road in 4HI. Gravel yes, tar no. The Pajero on the other hand says it's ok to drive on tar roads in 4HI. Why or whats the difference ? Unfortunately I don't know the answer.

Easy select does not have the 4H (limited slip center differential)

It goes straight from 2H to 4HLc (practically a locked center diff) - easy select doesnt ha e a center diff. Just a transfer case than can lock front and rear propshafts 4HLc or have drive go to the rear only 2H.
