Excellent :) Congrats! I am really glad to hear this!

I hope that Mitsubishi SA make this fix available to other owners!

I suppose the real test will be driving on a corrugated dirt road?

I've only had my Gen 4 for a week, and the dash seems solid on normal roads and the cobble stones in our office park. But I am interested to see what happens on dirt roads :)

Well done Roelf! I am now also keenly waiting to see what (if anything at all?) Mitsu SA is going to do about this issue!!!!

Awesome news... Wonder what the chances are that they will do this for free...? How old is yours Roelf?

Hec... Maybe I'm asking for too much. I would happily pay 4h labour to have my dash sorted out!

Would we be able to give the mechanics at the other dealerships a contact number for them to call to find out how to do the fix? I'm just worried we get the first fix iteration, and not the one you got now...

Thanks guys,

I'm still in wonderland over this whole thing.

1)My car is four years and three months old.
2)Four hours labour is a totally acceptable price to pay for a good dash - and I would happily have paid that.
3)I tried mine over corrugations and bumps and stuff on a dirt road - perfect, I couldn't thank the Mitsu-man enough.
4)There were two gents from Mitsu HQ - the real expert (he has done this fix to a number of cars already) and a second gentleman who is being tought the finer details of the fix.

My Pajero is still at the dealers where it is to receive the 90k service today - I could almost cry when I realised I didn't have my car to drive this morning :D

Thanks for that feedback Roelf. That mean I'm back to the dealer for more attention

Can we contact these guys or give their details to our local dealers?

Exactly my question! Will be very helpful if there would be confirmation by Mitsu SA that all dealers have been informed of this remedy. (In fact, it would be a dereliction of duty if Mitsu SA were not to do so!!) Previously (when my car was still under motorplan!)two different Mitsu dealers pleaded total ignorance about these brackets. I will gladly pay for the labour costs but Mitsu SA must now come to the party and take some initiative.

Gents,
This fix was arranged via my local dealer.

Arm yourselves with the info on this thread and go and stare down your service manager.

Important aspects to keep in mind:
1)The tech that undertakes the job must have very spesific knowledge of the job at hand. If he is not experienced and had specific tuition from the "expert" - he will most probably do more harm than good. Remember my dash did receive brackets 15k ago with no benefit at all.
2)The Alu strips must be at least 3mm thick
3)They must also fit the "brace". I have no knowledge of where the brace goes - so can only repeat what the expert told me.
4)Re-assembly of the dash is also of utmost importance and they must replace the foam rubber packings and clips and stuff.

Good luck,
Roelf

Had a chat with Paul at Mitsu Midrand today (who also seems to drive a Paj, and he is aware of the dash issue).

He called the Union motors guys and they told him about the fix. He only mentioned the brackets, new rubbers, not the brace...

He reckons work on the dash costs about R2700 - then there will still be costs for the materials... *sigh*

Will keep you posted...
