A person I know told me that he knows someone that used silicon to fasten the dashboard. Apparently he used it between the dash and wind screen and on the sides. He claims it works... but I have my doubts.

So the Paj went in yesterday - got it back today with the fix applied as per Roelf's experience at Union motors in Nelspruit.
Some initial observations are positive - no normal road rattles (I had 2 places that would rattle if you drove over uneven tar surfaces / cobblestones). Dash seems more solid. Will try find some gravel / corrugations for the real test.
(by the way - no issue with basic spares... They had a cap for my radiator coolant tank in stock, as well as an alternator belt)
So far so good... chuffed with the repair!

Masker,
I was on the road this weekend, so my first opportunity to reply.
I'm glad it is an improvement and I hope it turns out to be a total success.

So far, so good.
Found some light corrugations and a semi-bad stretch of gravel today - dash still 100% solid + no rattles!
I have not been able to test it fully under heavy corrugations - might take a trip again to baviaanskloof when I'm down there around the end of the month. That will be a real test

"Found some light corrugations and a semi-bad stretch of gravel today - dash still 100% solid + no rattles!": Mission accomplished!
"I have not been able to test it fully under heavy corrugations ": Serious bonus if it works out that way.

Any more details on these reapirs?
My Gen 4 GLS has 90 000km on it now, so I was thinking of looking into having the dash-fix done before the maintenence plan is over.
My dash was 100% rattle free, but since our trip to the Kgalagadi, there is an annoying rattle (I can stop it is I press on the dash at the right place).
The dash was very noisy and rattling a lot on the corrugations (which were VERY heavy). The Gen 4 dash only moves/shakes a bit more than previous Gen 3, but it a lot noisier!
I am in Cape Town, so I can't visit the same dealer as Roelf.
Roelf - can you give any contact details of who you spoke to at Mistubishi HQ? You mentioned that the guys had done this repair quite a few times already?
Which dealer did you use - Union Motors, Nelspruit?
I am just wondering the best way to approach this, so that the proper fix gets done, and that I don't get the run-around. I can even refer my service advisor or dealership manager to Mitsubishi HQ or to Union Motors, if I have the correct contact person.
Thanks,
Greg

Hi Greg, I think you will find that the dash brackets are not covered by the maintenance plan.
Unfortunately it's only done under the manufacturers guarantee, which is apparently only 3 years / 60 000km (or so I was told by Mitsu SA).
Not sure how many kms Roelf's car had on, or the age...

Greg,
Can you please confirm that you received my PM.
