did an oil and filter change today
also
fitted a bash plate to protect the diff, engine and gearbox sump.
Had a 6mm plate lying around that I had been eyeing for awhile. did some quick measurements and dived in. It weighs over 20kg so it's beefy. I'm sure it's weight will be compensated for by the more efficient aerodynamics on the undercarriage as the previous bash plate is long gone.
All went well. Only tricky thing was to remove the gearbox support member to drill holes for the securing bolts. Luckily I knew the process as I did it not too long ago with my gearbox flush and filter replace. I probably managed to take it off, drill the holes and put it back in under 20 minutes.
I will feel a lot safer now on the dirt road with kicked up rocks etc. but especially for that eastern cape passes trip I have planned.

I have been systematically going through the wiring and have been taking out metres of the stuff that have been added over the years as more and more gauges were added. Fitted new fog lamps, cigarette lighter for gps and also making up a new gauge cluster on the centre dash display.

Paramedic,
What a stately mother queen! Sounds like she is getting the attention she deserves.

Hi
Almost a year ago I joined the Forum. About two weeks on the Forum I picked up my problem of water that gets pushed threw into the reservoir tank. (33300km) After a lot of discussions I decided to rather find a rollover and fit that motor. Big was the enjoyment when I got a 3.2 with only 7000km on the clock. I bought it and the joy was of short live. I heard that it will cost me another 30,000 to fit this Common rail motor into my 2000 model. So the search started all over again. First to try and sell the new motor and then to find another. After 9 months I got my second motor a 2003 model.
So tomorrow is the day. My Baby is going in for her transplant. (346000km) I just hope there is no hidden things lying around waiting to eat the bank ballance

Hey all I can say Breathtaking acceleration.
The new motor is fitted but must say a bit disappointed.

Still see a fair amount of smoke in the mornings.
Power is a lot better and it looks like the fuel consumption also better. Will test it the weekend up to Tzaneen. Son is getting married.

I had a Bestech Autocruise fitted to my 2006 DiD less than 2 weeks ago. It works a charm. It's a little less accurate than the factory fitted ones under 120km/h (+/-5km/h) but over 120km/h it works really well. It also has 2 memory settings, that's besides the "resume" function.
