Well, my summaried understanding is as follows:
- Mitsu headoffice did the first dash fix at Union Motors Nelspruit, and documented the process (Roelf's car). This was covered under warranty.
- Another repair was done at Midrand, using the documentation obtained from headoffice? (Gemaskerde Tuinvurk's car). Done at owners cost of R2600.
- If other owners want to have the fix done, it may or may not be covered by warranty? The local dealer should be refferred to Mistsu Head office to get the details/photos/documents and carry out the repair?
I am also worried that the photos/documentation isn't clear enough for a proper repair to be carried out.
Roelf mentioned that if the technician isn't experienced in the repair, it may do more harm that good!
Please correct me if I am wrong?

Greg,
That is a fair summary.

Greg, you've raised some interesting points in your mail which got me thinking. My car was "fixed" during December and there seems to be an improvement but I am of the opinion that "other" vehicles have less movement than mine (2010 GLX) It may be difficult to quantify something like this but as Roelf mentioned, these technicians must know (and be trained) to do this work properly or cause more damage in the long run. I think I'll pay the Mitsu dealer a visit again.

I am currently busy installing my own bracket and will be testing it in the next day or two.You can follow it on 4x4community under gen4 build quality thread.
Apologies for not repeating the whole process here. Will do a full report on here if it is succesful though

John,
Yip, we are all hanging onto you thread like school girls chasing a boy-band

.
Please post a write-up with plenty pics on how you disassembled the whole dash. I'm sure most guys on the forum are too scared to even start stripping.

Roelf, only the centre consol needs removal. Its easy as pie.I think i posted a step by step on community forum.
I am willing to make a bracket for one forum member to test and see if one bracket will fit all cars.It requires one hole to be drilled,in a toughish spot though.A small cordless would be ideal.
Full details here during the day

Mr G - I'm keen to be a guinea pig
Like I said on the 4x4Com thread - I'm a mechanical retard - but checking your Radio thread - I might just manage
MrG Radio thread
I don't have a cordless but I'll scrounge one. I'm a good test case - if I can do it, anyone or their sister/mother/daughter can do it
If you're keen PM me your bank details and an amount - hopefully less than the stealer's 3K/5K

- and the games on!
Cheers
Tom

Excellent

Thanks for all the work JohnG (Mr.G).
My Pajero is currently at the dealership having the dashboard fix done... the same fix that Roelf had done - the new fix with dashboard support brackets/braces, etc.
I'll post feedback, but your DIY fix might be something extra that I can do.

Thanks.Love this type of challenge
Mine will be for the guys out of warranty like me,not prepared to pay for something they could have designed better from the start.
