Re: Replacement Radio / GPS
@benhur: If its a petrol model, you will lose the on board computer (fuel consumption/range/avg speed) function. DiDs don't have this, so you don't lose anything.

Re: Replacement Radio / GPS
I do not know the specifics of this radio but have dealt with ELECTROMANN SA before and only have positive experiences, on one occasion I was not happy with a Multimedia Player I bought from him and he refunded me no questions asked.
Re: Replacement Radio / GPS
I followed the thread with interest.
The CASCA entertainment unit in my Gen 4 DiD finally gave up after several warning symptoms and is being replaced with a new unit this week - free of charge.
Stealer said their have been many a problem but CASCA has sorted this out.
I will wait and see - suffice to say that my current opinion is that the name (CASCA) only need an R and a P to make it complete...
Does someone have instructions for an Idjit on how to update the maps on this thing?

I took delivery of my new Pajero on the 3rd of Jan, the frequency adjustment knob on the CASKA unit failed on the 6th! It is currently with the dealer. I have serious doubts regarding the quality of the CASKA unit.

Re: Replacement Radio / GPS
I also have a 2010 model gen4 DiD with a Caska system that needed to be replaced recently. CASKA indeed has a quality problem with these units as I met many owners with simular problems. I had about 10% usage of the original unit because it packed up about 5 times, always on a long trip. Hope the new unit is sorted out to something that match the standard of Pajero.
Re: Replacement Radio / GPS
If I may offer my 2CW.... My CD player has been replaced once and repaired once and is still not working!!!

But, I'm not mad about music, i like the sound of the Diesel ;)

In recent months though, all our so called radio stations are getting to become talk shops where one is also forced to laugh at their jokes

I have been looking around to replace my system:

New from the dealers R17000 (I mean from the stealers)
Got a quote from a dealer recomendation of around R8000 (also included GPS n touch screen etc....)

China, R2500 landed incl customs for a unit that looks identical to the new dealers unit :!: :!: :!:

I am just waiting for a mate who has already ordered two units for his Toyota Frot-tuna to see what they look like in real life and if the compatibility with existing dash, electronics and on board displays is OK (if the TOy has all these on board displays connected to the radio, sorry, I cant remember...)
If all works, the you can be sure I'll order me one too.

Will keep you posted.
