Suggestion. I had the scenario on my recent Moz trip that on two occasions my wheel nuts came loose
The first time i reckon the casue was the dealers not tightening the nuts properly and the second time me not cleaning the disc / rim properly when I needed the spare. Make that my fault for not checking both times.

This brings me to my suggestion of changing the set up as to how the spare is connected. I would like to see original wheel nuts being used and not studs. This will ensure one has spare wheel nuts for in case the wheel comes off and the nuts are strewn over the last few Km's

Re: Lifting spare wheel on Gen 4(NS/BK) Pajero-towing
As I only have a Gen3, can I ask a Gen4 driver that lives close to/in Centurion to act as the test pilot? The person might need to be able to visit Uys a few times for test fit and measurements.

Stofpad has agreed to make the product as soon as supply on steel stabilise a bit after the strikes in the metal industry and they caught up on their other work, so it might take a while unfortunately.

Re: Lifting spare wheel on Gen 4(NS/BK) Pajero-towing
Roelf, CATS and others,

I did a wee bit of a study on making a lifting plate for the Gen 4 spare wheel. I want one for my Gen 3. After seeing the photograph of the oversees version I found the following:

a. Steel plate cut to size: approx. R60,00.

b. Drilling 6 x holes at a sheet metal works: @ R10,00 per hole (expensive!!).

c. 6 x countersink bolts (12mm x 45mm x 1.5mm pitch) @ R60,00 each. They are not readily available on our market according to the bolts salesman in Silverton and if needed, will have to be a special order. Normal wheel studs can be used but then the plate will not fit flush against the spare wheel bracket and ditto for the spare wheel against the plate. Price per normal wheel stud(depends where you ask..) approx R11,00.

d. 6 x wheel nuts approx R6 - R10,00 each.

Let us see what Stofpad can do.
