We incidently had the same discussion today with a customer as he had 4 spots mounted above on roof rack.
On question is that not illegal?
He's response was no but they have to operate indepndently from the High Beam. But they must be covered in daytime.
But my question was- what is going to happen if you cause an accident by blinding the next guy coming from the front?

I am still waiting for an answer.

I think that is why there is such a law- for the safety of other drivers. I will understand if it is a hunting vehicle for night hunts perhaps but other than that- I do not think it is a good thing though.

I have also seen with these lights above bonnet you get so much light spread into the cabin it makes it difficult to see the road yourself.

Hi all. The Paj that was featured in the latest Leisure Wheels is currently at Mitsubishi Motors Eastrand in North Rand Road Boksburg. Had a look today. looks quite good but yes the lights are to much and the awning looks to be to big as well.

WRT toe the extra spotlights... As we have been told. Your extra spots above the bonnet must be covered and they must work independently... other spots below the bonnet... you are only allowed six lights on the front of your vehicle... the two headlights.... two fog lights and two spot lights... but, the spot lights MUST be on an independent switch and should not work in conjunction with your high beams (unless you flip the switch). the aim is so that you do not drive with these on public roads... simple as that. Spotlights on the roof are legal if they are covered and work independently... that's my 2cw...
