Shew thay is actually quite good!
8.8lt / 100km = 11.3km/lt...

You sure it isn't the other way around?

Vereeniging to Durban is downhill all the way, 8.8 is possible (okay not all the way ;)). I would like to see the average for both down and up.

Hi guys,

Maybe one day when I learn to do arithmetic my 3,8 GLS will also get a good (excellent) fuel consumption!!

Re: 3.2 DiD Fuel Consunption.
I'm considering a dastek chip for my 2008 3.2 did. My motivation is to improve fuel consumption. (ave 11.5l/100km) My previous 2001 3.2 ave was 9.5l/100km!?
Any thoughts?

Re: 3.2 DiD Fuel Consunption.
I posted the following in the 4x4 Community Forum FYI:

"I had my Unichip (previously in my SWB) installed in my new LWB recently. Drove it for about 10000km's before doing so (general day to day use and towing my Bushlapa on a few occasions). The difference is amazing to say the least. Really only need to touch the pedal under most driving conditions, including towing and when you need to overtake there is plenty "oomph". But most surprising is the improved fuel consumption - a good 2 liters per 100 kms less than before for normal and towing use. Went to Dube this past weekend (from Kyalami) towing the Bushlapa (110 kms/ph +-) - down there got 11.8 l/100kms and back (uphill) 12.8 l/100kms.

Had it in the 2011 SWB from about 10000 kms and had no problem whatsoever up to selling it at around 87000 kms. Funny enough the improved fuel consumption I now experience in the LWB was not so noticeable in the SWB - I guess the chap who did the installation (at Dastek Centurion) on the LWB somehow did a better job than his colleugue who did it on the SWB??
Re: 3.2 DiD Fuel Consunption.
I have a 2003 lwb 3.2 did auto and I do notice slight differences between 500ppm and 50ppm. I feel she performs better on 500ppm and gets slightly better fuel consumption bt I stopped monitoring when I put 50ppm or 500ppm to early to give accurate results. My driving is on a farm road everyday and then I have on weekends trips to durban and back to the farm with some city driving and of course the as often as possible 4x4ing time. I do trips to lesotho often and am regularly loaded 5 adults and towing a trailer with approx load of 1 ton in trailer and 500kg in vehicle. I have been really impressed with fuel consumption as it beats my old colt without a doubt and even with aggressive driving in the paj and very conservative driving in the colt. Overall I am averaging 9km/l and have best of 10.75km/l and worst of 5.9km/l I don't think I have had mine long enough to really give good results as I have not had it for a year yet and have only done 16000km. I cannot compare the driving of the paj to any other car that I have driven as it is so comfortable and just has the power you need right when you need it. I always use cruise control and is set just below 130 on the clock. I an running Bridgestone dueller a/t tyres on 17 inch rims and are 265/65 profile. I try to run them harder on the road cause of the noise they make but run soft on gravel and in lesotho. I am down to 1.6 in lesotho and average about 2 to 2.2 on gravel with 2.6 to 3 bar for tar use.

Re: 3.2 DiD Fuel Consunption.
When we bought the Paj, I was expecting (hoping) for around the 10l/100k mark, but a year down the road are getting around the 12l/100. Both of us are 60+ and so youthful exuberance is not the cause.
After the last service (100k) it got worse & the agents won't give any more free help!
Apparently there is a valve that I can blank off to prevent recycling exhaust soot & this may help. Any input as to where this is etc will be appreciated.

Thanks
Re: 3.2 DiD Fuel Consunption.
Hi Dan,
The valve you are referring to is called the EGR valve. I suggest you search on this and other forums for "EGR blanking". It also involves cleaning out the inlet manifold - as carbon is likely to have built-up there.

If it was me; I'd apply "injector cleaner" you should be able to buy at the dealer and after that run a few tanks with 2 stroke oil (1:200).

On a resent drive from Tzaneen to OR Tambo Airport I got 10km/L at a speed of 123km/h as shown on my GPS. I drive a 2010 Pajero sport 2.3 diesel.

Re: 3.2 DiD Fuel Consunption.
hi all,

having driven my 2nd Pajero, 3.2 GLS it certainly is not a D4D, mine at best have touched on 9.5 km/l,
on a recent trip of 4700km through the Eastern Cape and Western Cape, and back fully laden, some 4x4 offroad,
my pajero gave 6.4 km/h worst 8.8km/l best. speed plays a big role, I am not shy to push.
must say my aerodynamics suffers, ABR bumper 3inch lift, roof rack, ect.

in town my last fill gave me 7.5km/l, only use engen, diesel quality also inconsistent.

Martin,
