What is the most common failure on (smaller) trailers?
Wheel bearings!
Buy a set and keep them in the Bushbaby as spares.
Thanks 4ePajero, have not had the best experience dealing with the Venter dealers though, they are very disorganised. Will try and get a set or three as the Bushbaby is going to have to do some rough tracks during it's lifetime. Had to change shocks already and going next week for an additional blade to beef up the suspension at van Zyls, with the TTT on top, it is pretty heavy and also a bit top heavy so does sway a little behind which I see can be resolved with an additional blade added.

Davidvan,
Have you considdered maybe Camel shock setup for your trailer
I have taken out the standard Gabriel Safari shocks that my caravan used and must say a HUUUUGE difference in stability. Must say the Gabriels did not even last a 1000 km and were totally knackered and nearly caused a roll over and caused a coil spring failure. They did not fail slowly it was catastrophic total collapse .
It is a coil over shock system.

David sorry forgot to mention a friend of mine buys grease from John Deere . He is a keen fisherman and he's boat trailer is in the water a lot and reckons it is the best thing since marie biscuits. It is in a long tube and looks and smells different than any grease I know. From his mouth though

Thanks, will definately give them a call, have seen some of the conqueror products with these fitted.
Just replaced shocks as 1 was leaking....
May need to replace again before Kgalagadi in the new year...

I have spoken to the guys from Camil, they can make the shocks (spring over type, which will work well), just a bit pricy for now, will see after Kgalagadi the status of the shocks thereafter and maybe replace with these next round.

Added some cargo rails to my packing system to secure a battery and the wolf packs in the rear, also finally got round to adding my fridge slide locking mechanism, here are some pics.
PS just a note for the packing system, it may be better to use rubber as the surface and not cheap carpet and definately not speaker material, as it will not have the required longevity...

Nudge-m Bullbar ready for fitment. Estimated weight is 50kg, so will be interesting to see the difference in suspension height up front afterwards....
