I will be getting the brackets installed later in May when I return from my trip. Will give you feedback then.
So... car went in on Wednesday. I'm told it will take 2-3 days. I organise my things so that I can be without a car for 2 days. Then I get the call this afternoon (end of day 2) - sorry sir, but Imperial declined service plan / warranty claim.
I'm not sure where the issue is sitting, but I will be following it up with Imperial customer liaison details I got from the service manager.
So... one of the things that came up was that apparently Imperial has never paid for this sort of thing... (well thats what the service manager says). I know of at least 2 people who are not on the forum who have done it, and had it paid by Imperial. Are there any members of this forum who have had it done?

Does anyone have the part number for these support brackets?

Spoke to the Mitsubishi today: they only do the brackets under warranty. Contrary to the motor plan, the GLS only comes with a 3 year, 100000km.
I only got the car at year 4 - pitty the previous owner never drove on corrogation.

Is their any chance that we can do a poll on this site for all the Gen 4 owners to report their impressions of the Gen 4 dash rattles?

Greg,
I will support and partake in a poll, but I think that isn't the answer now. There are only a few names that go round and round on this thread, all except one complaining.
It seems there is already a big enough stink (now that this has surfaced in the 4x4 community) for Mitsu to start taking note. I specifically raised my concern here, and not in the 4x4 community, to avoid dragging my favourite car through the mud. I will however not keep quiet on the 4x4 community either.
I have been in contact with Simon and he has undertaken to take this up with Mitsu SA via the channels we opened during that meeting a few months ago.
I am thus willing to stop throwing dirt until some reaction from Mitsu is forthcoming.
I hope this makes sense.

Yep, that will be excellent

and make perfect sense.
The reason I mentioned a poll, was to try an get an idea if this is a problem on all of the Gen 4 models, or only some.

I think it might be more pertinent to have a poll which shows inconsistent handling of the issue, and not who has the issue or not.

Simon,
Yes and no.
The handling is of major concern and most probably easiest to fix.
If we can confirm a)the problem was rectified on later models and b)there are some earlier models with perfect dash quality, then there is also hope that those of us that have crappy dash quality could possibly get it sorted.
To repeat my opinion above: I'm happy to wait a short while and see what Mitsu is prepared to bring to the party.

I have just been to Mitsu in Paarden Island and none of the service advisors there seems to have heard of the loose dashboard issue and the possibility of fitting 'official" Mitsu brackets! But I agree this matter needs to be taken up with Mitsu as suggested. So many of us cannot be wrong!!

I just checked on the Aussie forums - no mention of dashboard rattles... unless I just didn't find the threads.
