Oops that's a whole lot of money. In India the labour is not calculated on hourly basis. They have some amount fixed for labour charge for each work.. So I hope I won't get fainted when the bill comes
Mitsu Midrand quoted be just over R2000 to do the fix. But takes 2 days.
Got the car from mitsu but the rattling got worse:( So they dint charge anything..somebody tell me abt the brackets maybe a pic/drawing with measurements?
They say there is only 6 bolts to tighten the dash nothing else they can find they say the Ac vent on left of the stereo is where the most sound come from
I didn't get to see the brackets, so cannot help you on that count.
"Got the car from mitsu but the rattling got worse"
This is what the letter from Mitsu warned.
Somebody needs to think out of the box and it won't be in a Mitsu workshop - they are bound by the Mitsu Corp statement that the current dash is performing "within design specs".
Somebody with skill, experience and care needs to take the dash apart and think out of the box. Cloyd suggested something basic like a support-stay resting on the cab floor above the gearbox.
Masker, R2000 to actually solve the problem is an absolute bargain. That is a good starting number to work with when negotiating with a panel beater - if we can just find the right one. When I was a student I once managed to get a vac-job at a panel beater as a driver. They had a gent there (past his middle age) that only did dash- and door- panels and things like Citroen headlights (those that followed the steering wheels). That is what we need now - an expert with immense pride in his workmanship.
When somebody finds that guy - we must spread the word (unless he is in India)

Hey Gents,
I received a call from Mitsu head office today, informing me that they will be sending experts to the Nelspruit dealer to fix my dashboard. We have set two days aside in early December for this.
This call means that Mitsu SA is getting serious about customer care and it also means they are reading this forum, which could be a direct spin-off from our meeting earlier this year.
Hats off to Mitsubishi SA and let's hope we can sort out the only weakness in a fantastic car.

That IS good news
Hopefully they can sort it out - our brand is taking a big knock at the moment with the rattling dash and the "no spares" issues.
We've already lost the 4e's - would hate to lose you too Roelf
Cheers
Tom

That is what my girlfriend said before she left me
But seriously Tom,
There is nowhere to run to. Jeep and Landy doesn't do it for me, the Prado reminds me too much of a Bulls supporter and the Treg is on the verge of being a soft roader.
We went playing on the mountain again this weekend, in very damp conditions...mmmmm... Had to reverse down one steep deeply rutted slope to take a more "friendly" line. I think when the dash is sorted and a year from now when the maint. plan expires, will be time to start looking at a locker for the rear diff. T/C is great and all, but I'm pretty convinced a locker will just make the car even more capable.
BUT first - The Dash!!
