I found a power socket inside the centre console of my gen3, it looks like the one in the boot with cover and all but there is now power. Is this standard or aftermarket? and why no power?

The power socket is standard in the Gen III - but has only power with ignition on...

Makes sense, didnt think of that!
I only found it yesterday while clearing out all my wife's cd"s before a car wash. I think it is real nice to have now I can plug a small cooler or kids dvd in their.

I can't understand why Mitsu is so 'snoep' with power outlets on a "recreation vehicle"
It costs virtually nothing to install, and will score major points with owners.

PS The Touareg has 5:
  • two in the front console
  • one at the back of the front console (for the rear passengers)
  • two in the load bin
:)

Mine has 3 (or at least it HAD)... it now has 7 ( a mix of standard cigarette outlet, brad harrison and hella)

The original ones were in the centre console front, one in the centre console rear, one in the load bay.

4e,

There is a clear correlation between number of cylinders and number of 12V outlets. My car has more 12V sockets than doors.
