Anybody know of somebody reliable that can help me out with putting recovery points on my 04 SWB.

I'm on the east rand, but will travel to where ever if needs be.

We are doing a river trip in two weeks and I don't want to push my luck without them....

Hey Fielies

Nope I need points to recover a jeep and Hilux that will be joining us on the trip.....

Jokes aside, I just want them and not need them, rather than need them and not have them..

Andre

Can't recall if you have a front bar and a rear towbar. If neither of these are fitted you should have recovery points already. The hooks fitted there is not just tie down hooks but proper recovery points as tested on this video.

If you have a towbar fitted and it is properly made the removable center portion can be replaced with a nice hook to do recoveries with or get a pin type towball, but this takes away some departure angle.

She is dead standard, don't really want to fit after market bumpers and so on // yet...\

Doug I just gave them a call, they will come back to me with options.. Any chance of posting a picture of what they did to your baby??

Andre, if she is standard:

Then what I have said. :D Use the standard factory fitted points. They are strong enough!

Hi Kai

Got back on Tuesday it was really great fun. from the 10 vehicle's that entered only three got home without any real issues.

First day we basically drowned a landy and a blister fender, the landy got water in its petrol tank and wouldn't start for some time(got it going eventually). It took us about 4 hours to recover the Pajero from the river and it had no problem starting, ken only had to replace the Alternator in Pietersburg. Then a disco 1 V8 blew a waterpump before he even got to the river and had to be towed back by another landy(luckily) to vereeniging. I never stuck apart from lying flat on my belly twice. I really have to lift her now!!! I also did a rebeading of my tyre for the first time(way cool when you "blows up" like that).

The other Pajero then eventually screwed up its transfer case and had to be towed by a hilux which then blew a head gasket. The G-wagen that lead the group also only made it to Pretoria when something went off and she had to towed back to springs. so two Land Rover Defender Tdi's made it home on own steam and Swart skaap.

I did get some really bad scratches and bend my nudgebar(now time for a real bumper) I also got a dent under the left door, and lost my left front fender trimming. and some other minor cosmetical thingies. Also got a quote to have everything fixed, R60 000 odd. Thank you for Tuff Stuff insurance!!!!

Sad to say, but I will be buying a defender 110 SW to do these kind of trips in the future as I really don't want to put my pajero through that again, even if if she is more than capable to do it. The defender I won't feel sorry for and I can get for a bargain in any case.
