How about the new Voetspore track that opened two weeks ago to the East of Pretoria. 7km long, 3-4 hours. Said to have some obstacles you should not attempt in a daily driver. R100 per vehicle ... BUT all of this is hearsay ....CATS wrote:Ok - My apologies for lying low on this one.
1 : I have no specific ideas on places but would propose that it be held at a place like Hennops, which is a nice drive. Anyone else with ideas on places?
2 :Also, I might be going on a snow finding trip at the drop of a hat that weekend if the weather turns that way in Lesotho, so would prefer if someone else takes the lead on this trip. Any volunteers out there? I will assist where possible with bank matters etc, but would not like to be the organizer of this one.
3 :Who is going to commit for attendance? The best is if we get deposits up front which makes a better commitment. I think Hennops is about R150 per vehicle, so if anyone commit they need to pay into club account. As this is so far a 'loose' outing everyone will bring own snacks and maybe wors and buns plus charcoal for a braai at the boma, about 3/4 through track. Please note that I will not allow alcohol drinking and driving. Emphasis is on family fun, so bring the partner and kids with. There will be no official instructors on site, but I am sure that there will be enough knowledgeable people going to assist you if unsure on the ins and outs of your vehicle. One person will however need to take the main leader position in instuctions/recoveries etc if needed(See my number 2 above). As noted I might make this date but at this stage would be prepared for anyone else willing to coordinate this.
