Deflector on hood

There is a see-through plastic deflector fitted to the leading edge of the hood of my Gen 3. What is the purpose of it? Benefits?

To protect the leading edge of your bonnet from stone chips

Just bought and fitted one of these to my Gen 3 about R450 from Mitsubishi.
I reacon they are worth it, i see you can also get for the headlights as well.

As above about R450 for the bonnet guard.
Not sure about the prices for headlight guards.
