BFG for my Pajero

Yesterday I put four 265 75 R 16 on my LWB Gen 3.

So far the tyres are a little more noiser when I drive and a little harder ride. (Note to self: Re-check tyre pressure)

Will go into the Moremi Game Reserve soon and see how they go offroad.

So far very happy with the tyres!

What tires did you have before?

So they are noisier, and harder, but you are happy? Was 265/70R16 not available?

When I bought the car it had two Kumo and two General tyres on, therefore the reason to change for a full new set.

I have always been a BFG man, that is why I didn't even think twice about another tyre. My foundings (ie. noiser, harder) is purely based on what the car was like before. I wont choose any other tyre than BFG, if I have to, it will be Michellen.

The 265/70's was avialable but cost around R 400 more.

Your reasoning here?

I grew up on the farm in the Free State, and my Dad was a Michellen fan, they last and they are good tyres! When I bought my first 4x4 I was advised to put the BFG as they are the best. I have never had any poo with them. That is way I swear by BFG.

I also fitted BFG 265/75R16 AT to my Pajero three months ago. I gained about 1.3cm of ground clearance and ride quality very good. Fuel consumpion "increased" with approx 5% due to bigger tyres.

I had BFG 265/70R17 All Terrain for almost 2 years on my Gen III SWB. The tires are excellent in any off-road case (tested in the Namib desert and various off-road events), they are quite well on muddy/wet tarred roads and they are heavily noisy on "normal" dry tar roads (city/overland).

On the other hand - they are really long-life tires ;) ...I won't have the chance anymore to test others....

Piri, the brand is called Michelin...not Michellen....

So it seems like most people running BFG AT on their Gen 3 Pajeros end up with going for a size bigger tire. I assume this is due to lower price and better availability?

I have read a few posts on people who fitted over size tires on Pajeros with the DiD Auto, and they complained about a decrease in power and that the gear changes weren't optimal anymore...

Just curious, cause the bit of extra lift is also a bonus with a bigger tire, but I'm worried about the above mentioned disadvantages...
