Hi all

I have been invited to submit a team entry for the AAWDC Interclub Fun day, although we are not officially a member of the AAWDC yet.

I am looking for entries to participate (this means you Nico, Jaco etc etc). We need to move quickly. Please let me know your intention to participate. I will take up one spot.

Dear AAWDC CAPE MEMBER CLUBS

Re: AAWDC CAPE INTERCLUB TROPHY 2010 FUN DAY

All the details and plans for this event is well under way, the only ingredient missing is the names of Clubs that are going to take part.
We have received confirmation from three clubs so far, there is space for eight clubs.

The running of the event relies heavily on club participation as each Club has to set up their own gate and marshal it as well. We have had one request from a Club to enter an additional team and two outside clubs have applied for entry.

However the whole idea of the event is to foster interclub relations of the member clubs and therefore we appeal to the member clubs to enter their teams as speedily as possible.

The closing date for member clubs is 31 August 2010, if we have not received the desired number of eight clubs by then we will open it up to the outside clubs and clubs wanting to enter more than one team.

The fees for entering a team is R180 per vehicle, each team consists of 6 vehicles thus we need R1080 to be paid into the bank account listed below by 31 August 2010 to enter your Club.

A meeting is scheduled for early September with the club’s team organizers to discuss gate layouts, flags, barrier tape and high visibility vests for the marshals. Marshal names will need to be submitted and indemnity forms completed for them as well.

Spectator fees will be R25 per vehicle which includes a voucher for two hamburgers as well. Marshalls will have free entry but if they bring spectators with unfortunately we will have to charge R25 per vehicle includes the food voucher as above..
Marshalls will receive extra benefits on the day such as food and beverages.
There will spot prizes on the day as well for participants and spectators alike.

It would be appreciated if Member Clubs could advise the Planning Committee of their intention to participate as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Yours Sincerely

The Planning Committee

How does this cours compare to the Dirt and Dust one last year? Can one test it first as a group before entering?

I'm with Jaco on this one, ie. can we test it out first? I'm still a newbie and would not like to embarrass myself or the club.

Nico.

As we're not officially yet an AAWDC member we have to wait until August 31 to see if the organisers have all the slots filled.

So thus far interest is

Blister

Also if we do take part we'll need a couple of folk to man one obstacle.

Blister, I am on both 29 and VHF.

Hi Simon

Both Nico and myself are keen but would like to test the grounds first to see if we will able to make it. We don't want to pitch and then put the Pajero family in a bad light. Do you think we canorganise a day outing to Outrekpad to that you can show us more or less what we can expect and then test our skills?

Also, how will the environment compare against Dirt and Dust from last year?

Jaco

I really don't know how the courses compare. I wasn't at Dirt n Dust last year. As regards Ou Trekpad it's mainly sand with a big play area in the middle with a couple of big humps and a river crossing at the back. I'm not sure how they are going to put the obstacles together so for us to go beforehand won't show us a lot.

I'll have to discuss with Ashley whether they will let people on the course beforehand.

Let me see what my calender looks like and maybe get a few blokes together for OTP anyway.

I've done a night drive at OTP on normal sand track and that was not too bad. My PJ handled it with ease.
I did see some video's on 4x4community webiste which I'm still contemplating if my PJ can do it. But it is worth a try.
Water crossings I've never done though.

If we can get a day outing for a couple of us, then I'm more than keen. Just have to get past the wife then...:-)

I do think it would be great if we are able to enter the competition as a Pajero team. Can be great fun

OTP is easy compared to D&D. Was marshall there for 4x4C last year. My car is FUBAR otherwise I would have entered without thinking twice. The ONLY place at OTP that I will not drive is the Groot Balle Drif. I do not have mud tyres and you need grip + diff lock to get up there.

Will gladly help mashalling or even co-pilot if soemone wants to be my brother for the day. Having family in the car counts for extra points
