Which is better, and why?

I want to change the headlights on my platkar as I feel they are a bit dim (they are properly aligned )

It seems, looking at opinions of people that moved from S to N that they prefer N.

I must admit, until I read your post I knew nothing of the difference, so my opinion is based on the views of people that posted their experience.

Nightbreakers are far superior from a lighting perspective. I have had both. They don't last as long as silverstars (it even says so on the box), but they are so inexpensive - about R170 a pair.

I see on many forums people complain about their cost vs longevity, and this from people who are happy to spend 10's of thousands of Rands on (often unneeded) kit

I have been reading a bit and most of the complaints are from dirt road drivers. The passat has a very soft comfortable suspension so I'm sure I'll get good life out of them.

More importantly, I want to see at night to avoid an accident at whatever the cost may be. I'm also leaning towards the nightbreakers but I just want to put my mind at ease. Are they better or are they blue bling fashion accessories.

Midas have H7 Nightbreakers in stock at R156.18inc per pair. Might as well get a set for the Pajero at that price as well.

Luckily the Passat height adjustment isn't crucial as it has an adjustment knob inside the cabin to lower or raise the lights.

I agree, also having had both.The night breakers are realy much better and not just blue bling. The only hassle is the longevity. I don't mind them popping, as it is at least stated on the box that they last half the life, they realy do give noticable better light. They unfortunately tend to pop when I need them most. On my Pajero with the Safari snorkel fitted I need to remove the grill and headlight to change the globe on the driver side, so it becomes a bit more of an issue to change the globe than normally expected. So buying a third and fourth one for spare does not help.

Thus I am back to normal globes, but I can honnesly say that they realy do give superior light.

Maybe better to put them in the spots and keep the normal globes in the healight cluster...
