Compressor

So, my T-Max packed up.. again, after the first one was replaced under warranty, and the second had to be repaired. It was a 72 lpm job, did ok, but didn't last long.

So I figured I'd get a 160lpm job, not because I wanted to save time, but my thinking was that I'd get all 4 tyres done way before any duty cycle limits are reached.

So I got this one from Midas.

So I did some experiments on all four tyres which I had flattened to the rims.

Flat to 2.2 bar in 2:10 (average of 2 of the tyres)
Flat to 1 bar in 0:53 (average of 2)
1 bar to 2 bar in 1:02 (average of 2)
2 bar to 3 bar in 1:19 (again an average of 2)

Afterwards the compressor was nowhere near as warm as my old one used to get after getting 4 tyres from 0.8 to 2.2. So if it lasts I am happy. But this thing is BIG. Only just fits into a gommo box.

Nice shiney tyres! :D

Compressor manufactured by ..?

If you replace that Mickey Mouse hose with decent 8 / 10 mm compressor hose, it will not only inflate quicker, but build up less heat.

It's an Autogear branded one but I think all these jobs are pretty much out of the same chinese factory.

Yeah, I intend to replace the hose at some stage.... Dont like the valve fitting either.. I hate it when they put these screw on brass fittings.

Tip:
Put some copper slip on all the valve stems as well as that brass thingymebob (especially at the coast!)
Those screw-on fittings love going on cross-thread!

Guys,

Midas has a sale of various items, and marked this compressor down to R799!

I just bought one.

Pleasure.

Thanks Simon for the thread (and the "demonstration" when you repaired my puncture!) - otherwise I wouldn't have looked out for their product. Pity you paid a bit more, but still a bargain!
