Pirellis are great
We have just done a 7000kms trip through Botswana and Etosha having to cope with thick sand, corrugations, rocks, water and of course tar.

My Pirelli Scorpion ATRs performed flawlessly apart from a very large thorn that punctured the left rear. Ten minutes and one snotplug later we were on our way again. Very comfortable on the road, great on sand and even handles Etosha's rocky roads well.

Only problem is that it does not look like an AT tyre and seems a bit narrower than the Coopers despite being the same size.

No regrets!

Excellent - be sure to post some pics of your trip! :)

I'm also getting to the point when I have to choose tires... It looks like the Pirelli ATR are quite popular... but I might still go for M/T tires :)

Okaukuejo? I think you guys were there at the best time... towards the end of the dry season! We visited during Dec a 2 years ago(only option for leave) and they had very early rains, so the watering holes weren't that busy.
