Ghost in the console display
Some strange ongoings on the display. Started a few hours after my dear mother's funeral on the 9th of Feb. The wife and I were driving to ORT airport to catch a flight to Cape Town. We suddenly realised that the time display had changed by some hour and a half. We still commented that had we not been "both feet on the ground" type people, that we could possibly see some dark side to the happening. This weekend we traveled to Parys (on the Vaal) for a wedding and on the way there and on the way back the same happened again. It happens while driving, with no co-occurrence that we are aware of.

ALSO... about a week ago the display changed from the normal fuel consumption and avg speed and range mode to display "ALARM" while the antenna popped up and down (the radio was off at the time). It was over within a few seconds and didn't affect anything on the car that I could notice.

I have no idea if the time and "ALARM" events are linked in any way.

Has anybody experienced this before or know what could cause this to happen.

Cheers

The time thing is possibly linked to a setting in your radio where you can tell it to sync to the time sent out by some radio stations. The idea being that your time should then always be correct no matter where you travel. Unfortunately not all radio stations keep their own clocks correct and thus lead to the time being adjusted to something incorrect, as in your case. Check your manual on the setting to switch this function off. This is the case in my older generation Pajero radio, so I assume yours is the same?

On the alarm side I have no idea, would be interesting to know that one, maybe it is telling you to get out in the bush more often?

Thanks Cats....

Every alarm on all my systems are crying out for the bush, so maybe you are correct. Our current plan is to break away mid May. Hopefully that will reset the bush-alarm. The wedding we were at over the weekend was on a farm-venue next to the Vaal. The car is covered in mud and I was on mild standby should the platkarre need help on the way out again. I know the tractor had to pull one car, but I didn't come across any stragglers. Mind you.... midnight and a touch of the old red wine... maybe I drove over a few. At least I got to use the little gear lever and that did remove some of the pre-bush-stress.

I'm really not worried about it and am most definitely not going to run to the dealers with the problem. I do not need anybody to scratch where the itch is almost zero.

I'll RTFM to see if there is a link between the radio stations and clock. Now that I think about it. The clock-thing only happened in Gauteng where I can see the artist name and song title on the display.... mmmmmm... I think you could have the nail on the head here.

Hi Roelf

I had the same problem, then i RTFM

You hold in the sound menu for a few secs, then you'll get an option that say's CT off/on. Switch it off, voila! No more wrong time ;)

Re: Ghost in the console display
This thing is going to force me to RTFM. What a nerdy thought.

The "audio" button only rewarded me with the standard display to set the balance and treble and stuff... nothing about CT. BUT, I can see the CT is on... it says so on the display.

I hate to RTFM...!!!!!
Re: Ghost in the console display
We all do. Thats why Swambo dont even wait or hesitate to take the Manual cause she know i will not read it

Roelf, try holding the button in for a few seconds, not a short press,a long press,if that makes sense.

You should go through another menu,e.g,RDS,TP and so on. An option to switch CT off should appear.

hope this helps,if not, call me on zero 7 six 9 twenty three twenty three 24

wife went shopping, sat in the car to RTFM

Re: Ghost in the console display
Roelf am I glad I am not the only one with the clock problem in Gauteng. About a year ago on returning from Mozambique I noticed that my clock was almost an hour fast. Kept changing time only to have it change back again. Noticed that when I went up to Vaalwater and changed the clock everything worked perfectly and only to change when I approached ORT.
Was going crazy to the point where I have been looking around scrap yards to find replacement
After reading your thread decided to try remove the CT using the suggested processes by other members, but had no joy. When all else fails read the manual and problem sorted CT the longer showing.
Process turn ignition on so dashboard lights come on. Turn Radio off using on off button on radio. Hold in channel 4 button and at the same time push in on off button and the CT will disappear. If you have a problem give me a call .
Thanks for saving me some money
