Radio problem
Just came back from a longish trip this weekend and experienced some problem with the OE radio/cd.

I always listen to a radio station, especially early mornings to get road reports, and after I left the Jhb surroundings, the station went dead. I noticed that the RDS was'nt working any more, and I batteled to again get it on a station. I thought that maybe the GPS had something to do with it, but even after removal of the GPS it still did not want to tune to a station.

When we stopped for some tea, I managed to get it tuned to a local station with RDS, but after a while travelling, the station went off air again. It seemed that this part of the radio is either buggered or that it had something to do with some or other radio interference from outer space.....

Yesterday I went to Mitspro in Centurion and when I passed the Fountains, Radio 2000, also RDS, disappeared.

Everytime the RDS disappeared, the radio clock went to a different time as well.

Now. Do I replace the current radio or is there something that I or anybody else can do to rectify the problem?

Re: Radio problem
Gert I've also experienced the loss of RDS on the head unit in my 2002 LWB, but it is on an aftermarket radio which I fitted.

Re: Radio problem
Gert,

Wonder if it isn't the "CT" monster again?

Re: Radio problem
Quite possibly the CT monster. I have DELETED that thing from the radio and will see what happens when I again move out of my vicinity.

Something else I found when removing the radio and surround to check how it all comes together, was the remnants of an old handsfree kit that was attached to some of the wires of the radio - like to the front speakers and the positive wire on the radio, presumably to get power to a little box I also found.

I removed the lot and hope that this will perhaps solve the problem and save me a couple of bucks for a new radio.
Must say I still would like a radio with USB capability, but I am hesitant to replace the original. That's just me....
