Bad for battery to be too big?

I want to replace the pattery in the pajero.

There is loads of space for a massive battery if I extend the battery bracket. (Not interested in dual battery there, I have another setup)

Is it detrimental (other than my pocket) to install a much larger than standard 12v battery - mine is an auto and I don't want to have too little power to start the engine in the bundus somewhere.

TIA

I dont see eny benefit in a bigger battery. What purpose is it going to serve you if you already have a dual battery?

I have seen how difficult some engines start on our recent trip to Rhodes. (Very cold)

I'd hate for my battery to drain quickly and not be able to start it - at Rhodes there were plenty of other cars to help jump etc.

Last thing you want with an auto is a flat battery so a nice huge battery will allow more starting attempts.

It will also allow extra power to some lights or radio if need be.

I am just playing with the idea at the moment but I want to know if there are any bad points other than the size and cost?

But then just wire an override into your Dual Battery solenoid if that kind of thing happens, as an emergency.

I've left the lights on in the Pajero a couple of times because at the time my warning buzzer wasnt working. Pop the switch, 2 minutes later turn over the engine and bobs your uncle...

And dont say cranking hurts deep cycle batteries ;) My DC is over 5 years old

ended up getting a 674C (I think) 70ah maintenance free* battery.

Can't believe what a difference it makes.

Just have to fab up some hold downs for the battery. It never had them :o
