SRS light on Gen 3 staying on

Hi

My SRS light has started staying on since last week. I have a Gen 3 Pajero 2005 model.

Any suggestions on things I could check to fix myself or is this something that has to go to the stealers to have fixed?

Thanks for your comments.

check the abs sensors at the wheels and the connector at the abs module in the engine bay.

If you get stuck or like me to have a look, invite me for a braai! ;)

I had the same problem a year ago. It turned out to be the rotating switch (don't know the proper name) inside of the steering wheel. Mitsu replaced it and the SRS light went off.

Regards

Ooops. I read ABS instead of SRS.

SRS is the airbag light. Have you tried disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes?

Thanks Marius. I think I will try disconnect the battery first but fear it will not be that. The light stays on when I am driving straight but goes off when I turn (both directions) so I think the rotating switch you mentioned could be the issue.

the dealers have just told me that it is the clock spring that needs to be relaced in the steering wheel...R 2 200.00 or so for that part and has to be ordered from Imperial...so I guess that I could order it now and be able to afford it when it does arrive after a month or two he he

guess it must be all the gravel road driving and hence jarring of the steering column that has damaged it

R 1 300.00 or so for a gearbox service including replacement of the filter taht is damaged (?) apparently.

How does the filter get damaged?

geez.

When I changed my oil, my filter was almost new even when the oil was black.
