Dual battery installation

I'm going to install a dual battery system in my Pajero 2008 3.2 but have a question regarding removing the terminals from starter battery during installation.
Would it be okay to remove the terminals for a couple of minutes while performing the installation? Are there any settings or diesel calibration settings that might get lost in the process?
Thank you in advance!

It shouldn't be a problem.
It is the standard way of re-setting the ECUs.
The transmission might act "funny" for the first few hours, as it learns your driving style.

If you disconnect the battery, you will have to recalibrate the electronic compass (drive in circles).
The engine idle speed can also become irregular after disconnecting the battery - it has happened to me more than once, when disconnecting the battery. If you don't, you'll notice that the idle jumps around, and it can be a problem, if you are in "drive" and standing still - the car can try to lurch forward
You need to follow this procedure:

- Reset Idle

Brilliant thank you Greg!
I've started with the installation but need a bit of advice on feeding the aux power cable to the back for a fridge. Which route would be the best:
1. Through the firewall and along the inside of the car?
2. Underneath car along the chassis?
Please advise on possible route and perhaps some pictures if possible?
Thanks guys!

I fed the cable from the battery, through the firewall, then along the inside edge of the car.
To get the cable through the firewall, there is a big black 90ยบ plastic grommet just under the aux battery tray area. You'll have to remove a lot of insulation tape. You also might have to make the cable a bit damp to slide it through. I got 2 x 16mm2 cables through. The cable comes out under the glove box on the inside.
I also put the cable inside a plastic corrugated sleeve where possible.
Don't forget to put a fuse as close to the aux battery as possible.
Cheers
Greg
