themba,
We would like to help you, but you will have to give a lot more info.
- Where are you based?
- Who did the previous work? A qualified mechanic?
- Don' you think the previous work could have 'caused' this failure? The co-incidence is a bit large.
- Was the engine running well before the work done to it?
- Just fitting new bearing shells will not necessarily fix the problem. What caused the failure? Broken oil pump? Worn bearings? Wrong oil? Blocked passageways? etc, etc, etc.
To me failed bearings (if that is what you are hearing) means total strip, investigate, machine, replace.

Many thanks Gerhard .I am based in the North rand and the previous work was done by a qualified mech .Before the initial work was done the car drove but when i bought the car i knew i would have to do some work on it but didnt expect to find a blown head gasket when it was stripped and like i say when i got the car back after all this initial work was done it drove hundreds for those 200 odd km this past saturday when i took it to the vaal .Sunday morning while trying to move cars around then the knocking noise .I will take your advice and send it back where it was done i am assuming maybe replacing of big end s main bearings and oil pump after the investigation that is.thanks
