I have a stock standard 2010 3.2 LWB DID Pajero. If I do not drive the vehicle for three days, the battery goes completely flat. Yesterday it could not even open the central locking.

I had an auto electricain, tracker and Mitsubishi Midrand look at it. They all agree that there is nothing draining the battery and that the alternator is charging the battery fine. Mitsubishi Midrand does not want to change the battery because according to their specifications, the battery is peforming fine (hold the required voltage level under test load conditions).

At this rate I cannot leave the vehicle for a weekend without driving it.

I do not (i have double checked) leave any lights interior or exterior on. In any event the vehicle switches off all electrics auotmatically when you switch off. The vehicle is left locked over the period. Mitsubishi Modrand has not been very helpful. They insist is must be user error and will not do anything till they can prove the error.

I am due to go through to the Kruger in two weeks and do not feel confident that will not be stuck at the camp site.

Can anyone comment on how long they are able park their vehicle off without completely draining the battery? Can anyone recommend a better dealership to take the vehicle to? Maybe in sandton or randburg if there are any in that area?

I park mine often for up to 3 weeks and i dont have an issue.

Get a sparky or test yourself the amps drawn while the car is off. It is usually less than 30 milliamps after the car has been standing for a few minutes. If substantially more, pull one fuse at a time to see what circuit is guilty and then work from there. A good sparky should be able to see what it is within an hour or two of troubleshooting. Most car battery drain issues are old tracking devices.

DO NOT accept the attitude of the dealers. Take your car back and insist that you want an appointment with the factory rep or insist that you want his/ her telephone number. Speak to the big guys if the dealer is messing you around. This is the only way that we - the normal public - can change attitudes and get proper service.

Do you have a tracker installed? Mine had packed up and was draining my battery in a few days. If you do, just check that it is still working. The NetStar Sleuth seems to last ony a few years before it has to be replaced.

we as a family own 4 pajero's : 2 x 3.2 did lwb gen 3 , 1 x 3.2 did swb gen 3 and 1 x 3.5 v6 swb gen 3 , both the 3.2 lwb pajero's won't pass the 3 day mark on a battery , we bought a solar " trickle charger "from makro and a normal bike "trickle charger " from midas to make sure the battery on either vehicles have spark when you need the vehicle , the inconvenience to open the bonnet and connect the clamps is far more less than looking for a jump start every Friday when you take the pajero out for the weekend travel
We were told to check the starter motor ( no problem) alternator ( no problem )earth cable from engin to body ( no problem ) any other suggestions will be welcomed

do you use these batteries for anything else other than to start the car? (i.e. for fridge on camping trips) ?

My gen3 diesel has stood for 3 weeks once and still had more than enough juice in the battery to start it.

Mine can stand for weeks too. There must be something draining it.

My second input. There is definitely something wrong with your Pajero!! I also have a Tracker installed and my car can stand for 3 weeks and more without any starting problem. Get the dealer to do his work.

Next time disconnect the battery and see whether it still drains itself.

This might not solve the problem, but will solve the results of the problem.
