Folding Wing Mirror Fault - Gen3 GDI SWB
Hi all,

I belive i have a problem with my folding wing mirrors, they are not working at all?

The other functions of mirror adjustement up/down/left/right are all working correctly.

I would like to start working my way through this to try and resolve the problem.

Can anyone shed any light on these specifics;-

Location of fuse if dedictaed to power folding mirrors (I believe its linked to the cig lighter in which case the fuse is working)
Location of any specific relays ?
Any pointers to look for in terms of fault finding as both sides are not working?

Anyone ever taken the mirrors off , i assume its a case of prise off the plastic inside cover and there are fixings behind which loacte the mirror ?

Can you tell by the wiring which are the supplies to the electric fold motors?

By the way i am reasonable with the spanners but i LOATHE electrics - cannot figure them out at all.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Couple of discussion on the Aussie forum regarding the access of the rear of the mirror

[QUOTE=Sandgroper;9238]Hi sjp2,
Tilt the mirror all the way up and look up into the gap behind the glass. The glass sits into a black plastic bracket and this bracket clips onto a white plastic bracket that is part of the door mirror assembly.
From underneath you can see two black plastic clips clipping onto the white plastic bracket. Use a flat screwdriver to gently unclip the two black clips, you may need a torch to see clearly and I had to put a bit of pressure on the mirror to open the gap enough to see.
Make sure you are holding the mirror when you do this because it will fall. After it is out you will see how the top of the mirror is supported, it slides into a slot first then the bottom clips in.
Good luck

Thanks for this, i stripped out the mirrors but sadly no motor connections, i guess at some point the switch inside has been replaced with one that had the "fold" function.

Still unless i had spent 4 hours taking it apart in 4.0 degrees and pouring rain i would have never have known this for sure !!!

Cheers
