Good day
I have recently installed a dual battery system in my Gen 2 Pajero now after the installation I realized that my alternator or voltage regulator is giving a to high voltage out(15.35v)?
Now my question is after googling allot I couldn’t find anything for over charging or where the regulator is situated? Can this regulator of a Gen 2 be set or replaced?
Thanks in advance for any help on this I’ve been struggling for 2 days now

What dual battery system did you fit? If the Ctek dc dc charger it is possible that it will lift the voltage higher than the alternator voltage.

Hi Cats
Both batteries are running from the alternator 2nd one via a herse-coil that I can can switch on and of.With this installed I installed a dual voltage meter and that is how I noticed the high voltage. I tested it without the second battery connected the charge was about 15.3V and with the second battery connected its 15V.

I'd suggest you need to start looking at your voltage regulator. How variable is the voltage as you rev the engine? If it goes up with increased revs your regulator is almost certainly toast. And if it is your batteries will soon be toast too.

That is the problem where is the regulator situated and can it be replaced or fixed. I know my battery is on his way out but I first want to fix the problem before I go and buy a new Battery.
Is the regulator on the alternator or is it loose somewhere in the engine bay

Oily,
Take your car to known reputable auto electrician and have the alternator refurbished. The regulator is part of the alternator and is situated inside the alternator and therefore has to stripped and while you are at it ask for and upgrade to hiher amps. It should not be too much money . I think mine was about R900 buks or so.

Hi Paw_by_paw
The financial problem I'm having is that I want to repair it myself the cheapest way possible at the moment or she needs to stand in the garage for another 2/3 months. I just bought a house so ja everything is on a tight budget. Maybe I will take it out and see what can be done. I can also get a brand new 0ne for R1k but that is one tank of diesel or 5 tanks of petrol for the bike!
Thanks for the info!
