The more I read about the DiD the more I want to save to put one in my Gen2.

At least it's running, even if the tires look funny. A bit too little rubber for my taste.

I also really want a 3.2DID for my gen 2.5. I don't suppose you have pictures of your brothers transplant and more detail on the electronics work 4ePajero? Not that I need them now, just to know if they exist. My 2.8 is running fine but bigger tires are on my list and with no lower gearing readily available, a stronger engine would be beneficial.

Yes, already read that (a few times) and found it very interesting reading and well documented. In that thread you mention that three of you did a transplant, at the same time as I understand it, two gen 1 and one gen 2 swb. Since the gen 2 is practically the same car as mine, I was wondering if there were any special differences doing that transplant from doing the gen 1 transplant. Since my truck has the 2.8TDI it already has a 30mm bodylift to fit the transmission, but I'm also planning to remove the suspension lift and add 65mm body lift.

You also mention that your older brother did most of the work on the loom and electronics, I was just wondering if you had more pictures and details of that part of the transplant.

I'm not asking you to post them, your writeup is already quite detailed and very helpful. Just wondering if you had them in case I managed to find a motor for a decent price (they seem very expensive in SA) and ran into some difficulties.

I could not agree more! I would love one in mine too! But not yet, will wait for the current 2.8 to have a problem, which might not happen for a long time!

Sorry to the other members for going OT. (If this needs discussion beyond this, please start a new thread).

No the electronic part was not documented beyond what was in the thread.

You will need full wiring loom plus all the ECU and other bits.
If you can't manage, a good Auto Electrician should be able to help you.

The transplant to the 2.8 is easy, because the blocks (4m40 & 4m41) are virtually identical.

Thanks, that's just what I wanted to know. Well, truth be told I wanted to know that the electronics part had been meticulously documented, with pictures of every junction, making the transplant a piece of cake, but that's another story ;) At least the engine will fit right in, now I just need to start looking for a donor.

To return to the topic. I'd take out the hairdryer and remove every last one of those stickers. Then I'd take the wheels off and set fire to them. Running boards need some work too. But, it's running and someone likes it enough to keep it that way. With that awning it even looks like it sees some camping.

I see more of those gen ones than most other cars their age. Pajeros are pretty tough.
