Tyres on Gen 2 Pajero
HI
I recently bought a 1998 2.8tdi Pajero Swb Glx. I want to know what size tyres did it came out with. It currently have 245/75/15 on and they look to small for the body. As far as I can tell it still have the factory fitted rims. Here are a pic of my pajero!

Re: Tyres on Gen 2 Pajero
Nice wheels...

I thought the standard size was 265/70, but there's only 3mm difference in diamater between the two

Seek out a set of 31x10.5's. Is the largest tyre that will comfortably fit without rubbing and fit the standard rims. Will yield about 30mm over your current tyres.

Thanks SimonB

I will definitly try 31x10.5`s. I plan `n trip to Mozambique in may 2010. I will drive about 5000km tar and then sand in Moz, what tyres would you or anyone else recommend. I was thinking BF AT`s (R2052/tyre) but if Ican get something cheaper that would last i will consider them.

Thanks

Re: Tyres on Gen 2 Pajero
A lot of good things are said about BFG AT. Can't comment myself though as I'm still on what I bought the car with. 2 Yokahama's and 2 Nankang's. Now before anyone says anything about that, I've long ago found that habanero and pulled it out of my hindside so max speed is 100km/h on a good day with the wind from behind. :)

I think about putting on Bridgestone Deulers 694 `s. can anyone comment on these tyres. Can get them for R1419/tyre. much cheaper than BFG. They did ok in tests.

I had BFG ATs on the Pajero.
Got Dueler 694s very cheap - they are OK, but when they are done, I'll go back to BFGs.

The Duellers wear unevenly, and I don't think I'll get the same kms out of them.

I currently have Bridgestone DUeller 840's on my SWB - stunning tyre, good road holding and OK off road unless you do some serious 4x4ing. I've just bought 5 Maxxis Bighorns that are being delivered this evening. Will let you know what they're like in a couple of days.

Thanks for all the replies.
My deulers also came last night, so will fit them today. I talked to a guy yesterday that only drive deuler 694`s, and he got 96000km on his last set, thats close to what you can get from BFG. Will let you guys know what I think of them. Thanks again.

Re: Tyres on Gen 2 Pajero
Ok, so I trash a BFG this weekend, and all the rest are nearing replacement time.

So I have some options, mainly due to cash constraints.... and given the BFG's are around R2400 each

1) Replace the rear tyres, keeping the two best remaining ones for front. Good spare goes back.
2) Replace all 4 tyres with somethiing that is more palatable in terms of price, like Hankook, GY Wrangler, maybe Duellers

What do you guys think?

Best place to buy tyres in Cape Town (Other than 1st Alignement Centre)

Re: Tyres on Gen 2 Pajero
Be careful for different ( 2 wheel average ) rolling diameter between front and rear.

Possible scenario

2H - No problem
4H - VCU might work overtime and heat up too much.
4H - Very unstable

I don't know how big a difference there will be between the 2 sets of tyres and whether there will be negative effects but I thought I'd mention it as something to think about.

If anything you should put the old tyres front left and right rear.
