Any ideas on where I can get a motorized strut/s to automate my Sport's boot?

Well, if such a thing exists, then I would also be interested. Don't think it is viable though. An electric motor powerful enough to raise and lower the rear hatch would be a nightmare to wire, leave alone mount. A while back I saw a company that advertised an electric lowering mechanism for the tailgate of LDV's and D/C's. I think it was caled isa/iza or something....But that I'm sure was just an electric actuator working in conjunction with some gas struts to help lower the tailgate, not lift it. But like I said,if somebody knows of any anything out there...its good to know.

Hi Titan,
It looks like quite a few models use a gas strut to LIFT the trunk when the latch is released and then a motorized system to pull it back down.
This eBay link may point you in the right direction

We regularly use pneumatic or electric actuators to automate machinery. Festo has one of the largest selections in SA. The smallest electric off the shelf unit will have a diameter of 38mm, but if thats too big you should look at a pneumatic double acting cylinder. Only problem with pneumatics is the fact that you need compressed air to work it. Have a look at the electric units on Festo's site:
