Attached find my receipt for the 225,000km service as done by the dealers. Time caught up with me and I had no other choice but to have it serviced there.

I supplied the oil (Delo 400), oil temp switch and top timing chain guide.

You are lucky:

You got the wash for half price and saved on transmission oil as well, since they put manual transmission oil in to save you a few rand :D

Roelf, I did not even notice the manual oil spec, must have overlooked it! Thank you for pointing it out.

Will this be a serious problem?

The prices they charge makes one wonders.
I just returned from Mits Brooklyn and they charged me R85.34 for an oil filter and R6.66 for the sump washer.
The fuel filter at the local spares shop is about half that charged by your friendly dealer....

John, I've got very bad news and bad news for you. Which first? I'll give you the very bad news first.

If they really stuck manual oil in your box, then it is a catastrophic error and your box is likely to grind to a very expensive halt.

The bad news is hopefully the error on the bill shows only a total breakdown in communication between the actual work carried out and the points on the job card. That translates into a situation where it is anybody's guess what work they did and what they didn't do.

Seems like this is the problem - the ladies doing the accounts are getting it wrong and Mitsu Nelspruit assured me that the correct oil was put in. They will provide it in writing - still waiting though.

John,

Get what in writing, another lie?

I'm pretty sure they didn't stick manual oil in, I'm also sure they have no real idea what was done on your car.

This is the crowd that booked my SWB in for the 90k cambelt service the following day, before I discovered I had missed the cutoff date on the maintenance plan by a few weeks. I then decided to have my indi do the job, only to realise there isn't a cambelt available at all. The guy in the store room assured me he was down to his last few oil filters and nothing else. When I cornered the service lady, she was well aware of the lack of parts

I still wonder what would have happened the next day if they had my car for that cambelt service? What would have been written on the job card?

Just pull the gearbox dipstick. If its red then you have the right oil in.

Roelf,

This is not the first problem I with this particular Mitsu service center - you know the place. One instance - previously my dipstick was inserted halfway back in and I only saw it after a week or so.

Unfortunately time constraints forced me to take the Pajero to them, otherwise Mitspro would have done the work. I share your concern about their technical capabilities and rather service my own car where and when I can.
