Hi Guys,
I have a 2001 DID, SWB.
As this is not my daily transport, my baby useally stands most weeks in the garage.
I have had for the past couple of weeks a problem with the battery completely draining flat, initially thought to be the battery, I replaced with new, but the problem still persists.
I have disconnected the battery for a whole week and reconnected on the week-end and she would then start, no problem.
It is then definately is a drain on the electrical circuit somewhere, I have connected my multimeter to gauge the Amps drawn. 0.178A is this normal current drain ?
Where do I start looking for this fault ? Any Ideas ?

Thanks Guys...

Is there or has there ever been a tracking device fitted to your vehicle? Some tracking devices have their own battery system but once this fails it starts draining your main battery, usually after about 5 years or so. Even if no current tracking done, if the device is still fitted it might be the culprit. Pretty common issue on your model vehicle, so I would investigate that first.

Do you have a battery of the correct capacity (Ah rating)?

I had a similar issue and it turned out to be the tracker. They upgraded for me, which solved the issue.

I had a very similar problem. Had the tracking company check their batteries following the problem persisting once I put a new battery in. Technician checked and said all tracking batteries were fine. Since he was there, all is OK again :?:

Your battery drain sounds about right.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for all the advise I received so far... Do any of you know where the tracker is located on the vehichle ? I would like to then disconnect the tracker, and check if this is the solution.

Thanks

IMHO you would be much better off getting a tracker techy out to have a look. It could be in a few different locations.

Just be carefull in "diconecting" the tracking device. Some units activate a cut out when tampered with. Reconecting the unit does not de-activate the cut out! Now you have aflat battery AND a vehicle that is immobilized :(

You have my sympathy
I is very difficult to find that tracking device They realy try to hide it in the most difficult places
I suggest you find your local car hi-jackers They will find in about 10 minutes flat whilst driving around the block
I had the same problem on a previous car but the techie found it because he was told by the company where it was
Your problem is that you do not know who put it in
Someone gave you good advice Get a pro to search for it
