i hope you are all well, please could i ask a stupid question, could someone please tell me what "Gen" pajero this is, i have just got it and now want to get it ready for the bush but i need to know what parts i need to ask for.

The VIN No is the one to have handy whenever you want to get parts. I recommend you save it to your cell phone for handy reference.

thank you for the tips, i have realised over the weekend that the VIN number is needed where ever you go, thank you Roelf the pajero was a lucky one for me i picked it up for 40000.00 so it is worth spending some money on it.

Wow that is a real bargain for a Gen3.

Things to consider for getting bush ready will be the following:

Good set of bash plates - see stofpad 4X4 for one of the best
Spacers for a little extra ride height and ground clearance also from stofpad
Good set of AT tyres
Consider a snorkel for the wetter parts of Botswana
Full tank of petrol and some humour and you are all good to go.
Dual battery
Packing system for the rear

Wow, very good price, what is the milage??

I see that is a GDI petrol motor, I have seem some threads on the VERY fickle fuel system on those engines due to the high fuel pressure and tight tolerances on the injectors. They do not agree with any suspect petrol(water, dirt etc), and they were not sold in South africa, only as imports. So maybe have an extra(Low Micron) inline fuel filter with water trap fitted so that you are not left in the lurch somewhere in africa, the mechanics that can work on those motors are few and far between. I have heard of mechanic in Tanzania working wonders, as they have a couple GDI's running around there. Good luck.

thanks it has 67000 Km on the clock, and it is a import, i have already done the inline fuel filter fitment but the water trap also sounds like a very good idea will do it on the weekend. for the lubrication of the injector pump and injectors i put 500 Ml of ATF in the tank every time i fill with fuel, this is also a trick from the GDI experts in Botswana, we have alot of the GDI's around and they are doing very well. i have not yet had it on a serious off road trip but where i have been has been thick soft sand and have not yet had to select 4 wheel drive, so far i am very impressed with it, now just to get it built up with all the bit and pieces.
