2 Question's about the Gen4.

Evening all, this might sound dumb to some but here go's.
1. According to my manual and most of the info I could find online my 2007 Gen4 3.2 GLX LWB is supposed to be equipped with a rear difflock but it does not have it. Did it fall away with the Gen 3 or was it left out on the early Gen 4's like mine?
2. I am busy with a preventative maintenance list on my Pajero seeing as I plan to keep it till it reaches 500k/km. On the list are a couple of mods like EGR blanking & a larger downpipe. One of these items is a more effective intercooler seeing as it cant go any larger the only solution is to fit one with a higher flowrate for better cooling. I have spoken to one of the local intercooler manufacturers and they said if I can supply them with a example the'll build one that fits exactly like the OEM one for +-R4k. Now the problem is I cannot go without my Paj for a week as it's my only vechile, so finally the question, does anyone have a old/broken/scrap intercooler lying around that I can send to these guys as an example?
Cheers,
Heimrich

Q1 Yes the first few 2007 GLX models was a hit and miss affair. Some had rear difflock and some not.
Q2. Why do you want to change the intercooler? The Pajero original intercooler is one of the best performing for that size and will not easily be bettered on. So I would rather spend my money elsewhere, but if you are really intent on burning money I have an old broken intercooler that came out my Gen3, hich I think is similar to the Gen4, in my garage that you can get if you collect. I am in Centurion, Gauteng. Send me a pm.

The first batch didn't have the rear diff lock - my 2007 Gen 4 GLX was registered in May 2007 and it is without it.

Thanks guys.
The reason for the better intercooler is not for better performance but to get lower EGT's thus increasing tye longlevity of the motor. I know the 3.2 is one of the most relaible motors in the industry but it cant hurt to improve a little.
But all things said a before and after test of the temps has to be done before a final verdict can be given.
@Cats I'll send you a pm shortly.

Hi
Rather get an Egt monitor. Highly recommended if you tow. Big diff (100+ degrees) in temperature between towing @ 120km/hr & 110km/hr.
Egt goes down quickly by taking your foot off the throttle or decelerating a little bit. Also goes up quite fast when accelarating uphill.
I have a madman ems for egt from landyonline.co.za. I also added oil pressure sensor & want to add water level later

Hi Bennvdm, I have a EGT gauge fitted and with the chip @120km/h it runs at 310'C(350'C without the chip). The one I have is a cheap Autostyle unit but the plan is to install a madman so to monitor multiple areas.
Going the remove the cat & fit a freeflow next weekend.
None of this is to gain performance, the power in standard trim is enough, rather I'm trying to make it more efficient so to increase the lifespan of the motor.

I think you are trying to kid yourself in upping the power and telling us all this is for longevity :lol Anyway, enjoy.
For longevity leave car as is from factory and do more regular oil changes - says I standing at 275000km on my 2001 3.2 Did still with Cat(I think it has one?), original exhaust, no chips or any other modifications engine wise. I just change oil every 5000km diligently.

PS - see you sometime today then?
