Hi, Richard
Is the led bar for spotlight or under carriage lighting?
You can get high power leds from rs components, some of them need to be mounted on a heat-sink though.

You can get the bars at Makro I use a 10 LED bar as a camp light +-(R200) Works well and fits on the spot light charger

Wow that's cheap, how bright are they?
I worked out about R1860 for 33, 425 lumen leds.
33*425 = 14025 lumens, if that's how it works...
They use 350mA at 4.7V
So 1.645W * 33 = 54.285W

But you still need a heat sink for mounting, brackets and a transparent cover plate, plexiglass would work well.
Though it would be better to buy one or two leds first to test out.
Some similar projects...

I ordered a 120watt, 2 row LED light bar from China. It gives you flood and spot in 1 bar. It consists of 2 rows of LED's. comes with brackets ande evrything. I paid R 1400.
Maybe that is an easier route. It took 5 days to get it from China.

Hi,
I bought this a few months ago:
http://www.visionxwholesale.com/product ... -BEAM.html
It gives a real flood of light !
But is does not go that far. So it is really good for off-roading, not very well for driving on faster roads. It does not go far enough.

Hi Richard, have a look at these ones, they have a very long range. Will make very good usable light for 400 meters and more.
