Ouch. When I saw you were from Edenvale at the beginning of the post I wanted to ask about the hail and when I got to the bottom of your mail OUCH!!

Did you have to replace any parts, or was it just panel beating and window/lights replacements?

I believe they are definitly replacing the bonnet and drivers side mirror. the back door might be replaced. the rest is just panel beating, which they can do with out respraying. these new methods are absolutly fantastic.
As for experiances of driving in Africa, this was my basic min "survival" package.
Good GPS with plenty of batteries.
Satellite phone.
20 l of water
Recovery straps
Medical kit
Lots of Patience.
Left all the gung ho stuff at home. Would rather divert 100km than face the possibility of trouble in the next 5km. I helped to many people who thought that they were the next Kingsley Holgate or read Andy McNab books.

It's good to hear that they were able to find those parts so quickly while others are having huge issues.
