Hi Guys
Whilst replacing the starter motor on my 1999 Pajero 3.5 Auto I noticed what appears to be some sensor of sort (see photo) but there is no wiring attached to it. I have tried to see if there are any "loose" hanging wires in the vicinity, there is one that is just hanging loose but it seems a bit too short to really fit. Is this a sensor and if so from where should the wire originate. What is the purpose of the sensor and will it cause any harm if leaving it as is

Looks like an oil pressure sensor. Does the red oil pressure light burn when you turn the ignition on?

No, the oil pressure light does not come on when switching on the ignition. Should I try to connect the loose hanging wire that I found and then see if it comes on??

The light should come on when you turn the ignition on as a self test to make sure the globe is working.

No matter what you do to the system, if the globe is blown you cant test any system.

Get the bulb fixed and then try to connect the wire.

The bulb is 100%, nothing wrong with it but yet it doesnt come on when switching on the ignition, the problem seems to be more complicated than what I have originally thought and I think this is about where my know-how ends, will have to take it to a proffessional
