OK, so we have this pepper tree about 100 meters up the street. So, just got the Pajero and drove past/under the hanging branches and I bent the aerial around.

NP, R 538 at Mitsubishi Brooklyn. Got it but I cannot fit it as per the help files on the net as it appears that the aerial motor is not working. A R2,500 job. File it on the bottom of the list of stuff to fix. Bend old aerial back and press into the housing a bit so that it stand upright.

Wife drives with car underneath the offending tree and the aerial is again bent.

So, since everyone in the company uses my car I believe that I will be replacing aerials every week. Since I do not care about an aerial that can go up and down, does anyone know of an aftermarket/different aerial that I can have retrofitted so that I can listen to radio.

I have read here about replacing it with a whip aerial (outside) or an internal aerial fitted to the edge of the windscreen.

Any ideas or preferences and benefits/disadvantages between these two. The whip aerial might look crap but work better, while the internal one would look better but be worse ?

Just go the whip aerial route. My buddy has one on his 2003 GLS and it doesn't look stange or out of place.

My car has an aerial that isn't visible and I have not found it either. At least it appears to have the same reception ability as the previous models, with up-and-down electric motor types. I'm sure a hidden internal aerial will be more difficult (costly) to install.

The Gen4 antenna is the wiring on the rear side window.
From what i have heard is that you can have a similar antenna put onto any car that has space for this.Maybe a good choice than having a normal one put in on the older models

Oh my golly goodness I could never figure out why only the one side rear window had a "de-mister"

I also removed mine and fitted a flexible whip of about 35cm. Works 100 percent. The motor trying continuously to wind up or down the arial everytime I started and stopped the engine drove me mad.
I just bought some spare panel clips from the agents,as I saw that I might break a few. I drilled out the wheelarch trim rivets, but afterwards saw that it wasn't really necessary. I then removed he motor and arial mast without major pains. The only issue was that I had to cut the arial wire and resolder it to the replacement. I tied up the old wiring plug in a plastic bag to keep dust and mud away, just incase someone wants to fit the original motorized arial back in future.

There are aparently some pirate mast around for about R150, but I opted for the whip. The original is just a bad idea for the bush.
